Veterans are limited in resources with numerous barriers:

ANY RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY’S THAT WE ENJOY IN AMERICA, WE CAN THANK A VETERAN, BECAUSE WITHOUT THE ARMY, AIR FORCE, COAST GUARD, MARINES, OR THE NAVY, PROTECTING OUR BORDERS, WE WOULD NOT HAVE THE LUXURY OF ENGAGING IN OUR DAILY LIVES OR ACTIVITIES, WITHOUT HAVING THE FEAR OF HAVING A BOMB DROPPED ON US.

Key Components is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization focusing on transforming the former Whittaker Memorial Hospital in Newport News, a Virginia Landmark, into a housing facility to assist our wounded veterans / disabled veterans. .

Veterans are limited in resources with numerous barriers with the ability to improve their way of life. While the VA and other facilities exist the current facilities are unable to provide the necessary supportive services needed by our veterans. It is the core mission of Key Components to offer wrap around supportive services vital to each veteran, while providing safe and affordable housing. The supportive services include housing counseling services, life management skills, individualized rehabilitation and treatment plans, job training and placement with leisure development.

Whittaker Hospital was recently awarded 30 housing vouchers from the Newport News Redevelopment Housing Authority subject to rehab.  We also received a letter of support from the City Manager.

This historic project’s adaptive reuse and revitalization of the former hospital will be able to make a significant contribution to both the Newport News Community while offering a unique opportunity to assist a population that has been undeserved after serving our country keeping us safe. I look forward to meeting with you in order to discuss how we can be of assistance to you and collaborate on a groundbreaking program to end veteran’s homelessness that will service as a model though out the country.

The facility is called Whittaker Heritage to preserve the history of the Former Whittaker hospital that was conceived during the era of segregation

  3. Thank you for starting this. I love the words in the introduction. I just hope that every American understands, we would not be able to work, or enjoy our weekends without them securing our boarders. It is because of the veterans that so many want to come to America to live. Veterans are responsible for the creation of what is known as the "American Dream"
